A Message from the Mayor's Office
Posted on Mar 25th, 2020
In order to protect community members, employees and visitors from the effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Mayor Sylvester Turner placed the city of Houston under a "Stay Home, Work Safe" Order. This act is an added layer of precaution and safety for Houston and Harris County communities.
The city of Houston is working closely with the Grocery Supply Industry to ensure that ample stock of produce, food products, water, pharmaceuticals and cleaning supplies are available in local stores. The city is asking that any neighborhood agreements or curfew restrictions be relaxed to allow for the delivery of grocery products and the staffing of distribution centers and neighborhood stores.
We are asking the citizens of Houston and Harris County to be patient, not panic and not stockpile products. The Grocery Industry is working hard to maintain their inventory and have assured us that there will be ample supply for Houstonians.
The Houston Health Department has opened a COVID-19 call center that operates from 9am - 7pm, Mon - Fri and 9am - 3 pm, Sat. Please call 832-393-4220 to speak to their staff.
